	Introduction to the report, its link to the 60th UN/DPI/NGO Conference

Section Two:  Risk Reduction

• A special Chapter on risk reduction draws upon the conclusions of a network of risk reduction experts in civil society as well as the recommendations of the many project Working Groups. 

• A chapter on Advocacy will be a major focus in 2009 on how civil society can be more effective at advocating for change.

Section Three: Specific Thematic Recommendations

Many topics were raised during the 2007 60th DPI/NGO Conference that participants felt should be considered for specific Thematic Chapters in the Report to the Secretary General and the IPCC. Others were possible as well. These chapters form the foundation of the Report by providing specific recommendations to civil society from civil society on what needs to be done to adapt to climate change and in the long term, reverse the threat.   Each chapter was developed by a working group and for the most part, each will stay in place in 2009 in order to foster continued advocacy for change.  Additional Working Groups may also be formed in the 2009 phase of the project.  If you are interested in participating, contact one of the Editors.
